General Biology
The General Biology Option within the Biology major is intended to provide broad-based training in the biological sciences for students who prefer not to specialize at the undergraduate level. The options in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior (EEB); Marine and Freshwater Biology (MFW); and Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB) provide additional training in the respective specialty areas within Biology. B.S. degree recipients in any of the four Biology options or in any of the five biological science departments will be qualified to pursue advanced degrees in the biological sciences, professional degrees in the health-related professions, secondary school teaching certification, or employment in a wide variety of public and private sector jobs requiring biology training.
Pre-Med and other pre-health professional students should visit the Pre-Med office in Hood House for additional information on requirements for specific professional schools. The following elective courses will be helpful in preparing for admission to post-baccalaureate programs in the health professions and for their required aptitude examinations.
